Free Random Name Generator
This random name generator produces full first + last names for fiction, role-playing games, character design, screenwriting, mock data, and brainstorming. Choose a gender and an origin — English, Spanish, Indian, Japanese, Arabic, or French — and the generator produces a fresh batch every time you click. All names are common and culturally plausible, suitable for realistic characters.
How to Use the Name Generator
Pick the gender (male, female, or any), the cultural origin, and how many names you want (1–100). Click Generate. Each result shows the full name plus the origin it was drawn from. You can re-roll as often as you need to find a name that fits the character you have in mind.
Supported Origins
- English — James Smith, Charlotte Williams, Emily Brown, Henry Wilson
- Spanish — Juan García, María Fernández, Diego Rodríguez, Lucía Pérez
- Indian — Arjun Sharma, Priya Patel, Karan Singh, Ananya Verma
- Japanese — Hiroshi Sato, Yuki Tanaka, Daiki Suzuki, Sakura Watanabe
- Arabic — Ahmed Al-Said, Fatima Hassan, Khalid Mansour, Layla Khalil
- French — Jean Martin, Sophie Dubois, Antoine Bernard, Camille Robert
Selecting "Any" mixes all origins, which is handy for international casts, multiplayer games, or test data for software that needs varied real-world names.

How the Generator Works
The generator draws first names from a curated, gender-tagged list per origin, then pairs them with a separate list of culturally typical surnames. Combinations are random, so each click yields fresh pairings. The lists are large enough that the same name rarely repeats within a single batch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these real people?
No. The first and last names are common in their respective cultures, but the combinations are random. Any match with a real person is coincidental.
Can I use these names in published fiction or games?
Yes. The names are common cultural names, not copyrighted, and free to use in any project — published novels, films, games, or commercial software.
Why are some origins missing?
The current list covers six widely-used origins. More can be added based on user feedback. Use the "Any" option for the broadest mix until then.
Can I get just first names or just last names?
The generator currently outputs full names. You can copy just the first or last name from any result, or use the same generator multiple times for separate first-name and last-name pools.
