Free Online Timer, Stopwatch and Pomodoro

This free online timer does three jobs in one place. Use Countdown mode to count down from any number of hours, minutes, and seconds; switch to Stopwatch mode to count up and record lap times; or open Pomodoro mode to work in focused 25-minute sessions with short and long breaks. Everything runs in your browser — there is nothing to install, no sign-up, and it works on desktop and mobile alike.

How to Use the Countdown Timer

Type the hours, minutes, and seconds you need, or tap a preset such as 5, 10, or 30 minutes, then press Start. The display counts down and a progress bar shows how much time is left. You can pause and resume at any point, and when the timer reaches zero it plays an alarm and flashes the screen so you do not miss it. The remaining time also appears in the browser tab title, so you can keep working in another tab and still watch the clock.

Stopwatch Mode

The stopwatch counts upward to hundredths of a second. Press Start to begin, Lap to record a split without stopping the clock, and Pause whenever you need to. Each lap is listed with both the split time and the total elapsed time, which is ideal for timing workouts, laps, experiments, or any repeated activity.

Pomodoro Mode

The Pomodoro technique breaks work into focused intervals separated by short rests. Choose a 25-minute Focus block, a 5-minute short break, or a 15-minute long break, then start the timer. Completed focus sessions are counted for you, helping you stay on task and take regular breaks to avoid burnout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes. The timer tracks real elapsed time, so it stays accurate even if you switch to another tab or minimise the window, and the remaining time is shown in the tab title.

Will it make a sound when the timer ends?

Yes. When a countdown or Pomodoro session reaches zero, the timer plays an alarm tone and flashes the display. You can also enable a browser notification using the switch below the timer.

Do I need to install anything or create an account?

No. The timer runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to download and no sign-up required, and it works the same on phones, tablets, and computers.

What is the Pomodoro technique?

It is a time-management method that splits work into 25-minute focus sessions followed by short breaks, with a longer break after several sessions. It helps maintain concentration and reduce fatigue.
